Welcome to the new site of Doube H!
“The rapping chef Double H serves a twelve tracks long dinner that tastes really good”
Double H is not a new name on the scene, neither is he a newly initiated Rap-Head. Having been into Hip Hop since a youngster, growing up listening to and being inspired by the likes of Public Enemy, Run Dmc, Del the Funkee Homosapien, Cypress Hill, Ice Cube, Da Lench Mob, Hit squad, LL Cool J and others you can see where his taste buds were formed. He got deeply involved with the Hip Hop culture through Graffiti which later lead him to starting rhyming; right after the first time he listened to the now classic Nas album “Illmatic“. Double H and MC and Juggla doin’ ragga, they formed a group bearing the name Phat Damage. Making a little noise locally but eventually the project never really took of. Double H later on meet K-real through a now classic mixtape collaboration and formed what is the essence of Basementality. Basementality itself in turn expanded to a whole HipHop movement: K Real, Sam-E (Medina), Double H, Jaggla, Iron man, Dj Judge, Seksie (Salong Betong), Claes Uggla (JuJu records) , Dj Atmos and more and has left a deep mark on the Scandinavian HipHop scene. The crew went from open mic spot to open mic spot, rippin mic’s apart while doing mixtapes and recording tracks. K- Real and Sam-E recorded and released records but Double was never really happy with his recordings and never finished a album cause he wasn’t happy what he came up with.
All this is however, just about to change. With the new Album entitled “Afterwork”, the Chef cooks up a formula once the kitchen is closed and the studio doors are open. Inviting some long time friends that share his understanding of music , the result is an honest, unabbreviated and sincere artistic expression. The release looks to invigorate the now withering Rap Scence, both world wide and local Scandinavia. “Double H has been rapping a long time but unfortunately not released so much. One can see, however, the routine of songs and guest voices on the mic (Tabs, Rosanna and Earmax) supplements in a good way. ” This musical experiment takes the listener on a trip where minutes, hours, days and years have formed this international soundscape to bring about a very natural and unforced result.
Quoting Alexander Kihlström of Kingsize Magazine, Sweden “This is my kind of rap. When I sit at home and get to choose myself I am happy to rappers who drive in this way as Double H makes.” This makes perfect sense looking back at the influences as “The Rap is straight and hard with no frills, it comes as a kidney kind of nowhere.” Even without a released album he has done shows alongside, Freestyle, Jeru the Damaja and Bootcamp Clik and many others. After a while he almost left the Swedish Hip-Hop scene focusing more on his profession as a chef but never really able to quit rhyming, keeping it more for himself. Now, finally he thinks his material is good enough to be released! Dinner is about to be served … be sure to make your reservations!
“I hope people will once again start to appreciate this form of hip hop with a taste of asphalt and a huge dose of attitude” - AK, Kingsize Magazine
